Registration

The information on this website can be read by everyone. If you want to participate in our videoconferences as a possible future tandem partner, you have to authenticate yourself.

For the videoconference with the 1st round of introductions, all we need is an e-mail address to which we can send the participation link. In the introductory round no personal data is required. You can introduce yourself there with your first name or a nickname and say what you offer for possible tandems and what you are looking for.

After the 1st round of introductions, one decides whether to register on the learning platforms to coordinate tandem activities. So that no anonymously acting sex offenders are taken up, a multi-factor authentication is necessary from this point on. This means having a certified entity sign you up. – This can be a public authority or the adult education center where one is already registered or one authenticates oneself via a bank transfer where one can choose whether one wants to receive a small amount of money as a donation or whether one gives a small donation. In both cases, the IBAN will be on record and can be tracked by relevant government agencies if there are any violations of the law.

We as a provider of the platform for tandems do not need any personal data because we do not write invoices and therefore we offer the best protection for personal data with maximum data economy: What is not stored by us cannot be misused by cyber criminals. However, the bank transfer data is stored externally at our bank and is kept there securely for at least 10 years before it is deleted.

We will exchange the bank transfer data after the 1st round of introductions, if registration for the platform is desired. The amount transferred will be used for verification in the next video conference. If the correct amount is mentioned, the registration is completed and you can fill in your profile and view profiles of possible tandem partners.

We therefore generally reject bank details from countries that do not cooperate with German law enforcement agencies.

This IBAN-based procedure makes sense because Ukrainian refugees change their residence more often but rarely their bank account.

In the case of German tandem partners with a landline and with an entry in the public telephone directory, the bank transfer can be omitted if a term agreed upon in the video conference is mentioned when we call back.

The reason for our caution and choice of multi-factor authentication is described in the Tagesschau article: https://www.tagesschau.de/inland/faeser-ukrainerinnen-101.html
